COMMITTEES STOPPING STIGMA TOGETHER!

Communications Committee
PURPOSE: Ensure the visibility of the Grand Challenge to members of the mental health and substance use disorders communities and the public in multiple formats.

The role of the Communications Committee is to:
- Develop and maintain relationships with members of the media.
- Share the progress of the Grand Challenge to members of media.
- Identify opportunities to highlight the progress of the Grand Challenge to members and the public.
- Recruit new media partners to join the Grand Challenge.
- Working with the Ad Council, develop and disseminate appropriate communications toolkits.
- Develop and implement strategies to foster collaboration with other partners and participants in the Grand Challenge.
- Develop robust social media campaigns.
- Identify key communication strategies with the other committees to show the value of each committees’ respective work.

Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
PURPOSE: Address how to achieve health equity for individuals and communities that have been disadvantaged by societal factors, which generate persistent disparities in mental health and substance use disorders.

The role of the JEDI Committee is to:
- Identify and highlight the impacts of stigma to those in communities who are at a higher risk for mental health and substance use disorders.
- Develop and implement strategies to foster collaboration with other committees within the Grand Challenge to compile and research various aspects of stigma with a JEDI lens.
- Identify and develop partnerships with under-represented communities.

Partnership Committee
PURPOSE: Provide multiple forums for partners/members to seek and/or to exchange information, share ideas, contribute best practices and success stories, and network with other organizations committed to stopping stigma around mental health and substance use disorders and to foster positive networking relationships among partners, their representatives, and the Grand Challenge leadership through forums, events, and communication platforms.

The role of the Partnership Committee is to:
- Develop and maintain partnership structure for the Grand Challenge.
- Recruit new partners to join the Grand Challenge.
- Develop and implement strategies for attracting new partners to join the Grand Challenge.
- Develop and implement strategies for the retention and engagement of partners in the Grand Challenge.
- Identify key communication strategies with the Communications Committee to show the value of partnerships and engagement.

Policy Committee
PURPOSE: Identify, evaluate and understand the impact of public and private sector policies related to mental and behavioral health stigma.

The role of the Policy Committee is to:
- Develop and disseminate appropriate policy-related toolkits.
- Develop and implement strategies to foster collaboration within the public and private sector to identify existing policy strengths and areas needed for future policy change.
- In coordination with the Metrics Committee, develop metrics and baseline on the impact of laws related to stigma.

Financial Strategies Committee
PURPOSE: Provide education to all active Stop Stigma Together partner members on the best practices for fundraising for their own work to stop the stigma of mental health and substance abuse disorder.

The role of the Financial Strategies Committee is to:
- Develop monthly virtual educational sessions open to all active members
- Develop a “Fundraising Track” for the various Stop Stigma Together conferences
- Develop materials and a toolkit for active members to use for their own fundraising activities

Metrics Committee
PURPOSE: Determine how the Grand Challenge and its participants will measure success throughout all three domains of the challenge. These measurements will be used internally and externally to galvanize support.

The role of the Metrics Committee is to:
- Develop the metrics and baseline data for measuring the impacts of stigma.
- Conduct and compile research to measure, understand and examine stigma.
- Track the changes of policies in both the public and private sector.
- Develop and implement strategies to foster collaboration with other committees within the Grand Challenge to compile and research various aspects of stigma.
